For the second edition of TEFAF New York, De Jonckheere has chosen Anna de Pisseleu, Francis I’s favourite, as its ambassadress!
This portrait, of a rare beauty, executed between 1535 and 1540 by Corneille de Lyon, was painted twice.
The second version can be admired at the Metropolitan Museum, just a few steps away from the Armory!
Besides this delicate subject, among a Bird Trap by Pieter Brueghel the Younger and an opulent still life by Johannes Bosschaert, the gallery will present an astonishing Entombment of Christ by Maerten van Heemskerck, circa 1545.
An event not to be missed: New York is shining a new light on old masters this autumn!
