At four o’clock on a summer morning,
The Sleep of love still lasts.
Under the spinneys the dawn disperses scents
Of the festive night.
Pleasant Thought for the Morning by Arthur Rimbaud (excerpt) in Last Lines (1872)
Our first semester ends, and summer begins at an ethereal pace. The memory of our meetings at BRAFA, of our last exchanges at TEFAF, of the sale of our portrait of Bartholomeus Bruyn to the Mauritshuis in The Hague, and of your visits to our gallery in Geneva: this year will have made us realize how much it is essential in our business to meet each other, and how much we have missed these encounters in recent months. May the summer break bring us all the necessary rest and allow us to provide the necessary care to our family and friends.
We look forward to welcoming you at the gallery from August 24, and then again from September 23 for our new exhibition: “Favourite Paintings.” The exhibition will launch our fall season with a selection of our latest acquisitions. It will be followed by the exceptional “La Biennale Paris chez Christie’s” online auction, scheduled from September 30 to October 8, 2020. While we will miss seeing each other at Frieze Masters this year, we will meet again in Paris for shared viewings at the Galerie François Léage, where 17th- and 18th- century decorative arts will be displayed alongside Flemish paintings and modern masterpieces from October 15 to November 7.
In the meantime, we wish you a nice holiday, as pleasant and relaxing as possible. Please be assured that we will be delighted to see you again as soon as the holidays are over!
Georges & François,
