Ses qualit\u00e9s de dessinateur lui permettent d\u2019entrer \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse o\u00f9 il apprend les bases de la sculpture entre 1899 et 1904. En 1906, il s\u2019installe \u00e0 Paris. L\u2019\u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts l\u2019autorise \u00e0 suivre les cours qui l\u2019int\u00e9ressent, sans pour autant le contraindre \u00e0 s\u2019inscrire comme \u00e9l\u00e8ve. En 1912, il prend un atelier et sculpte \u201cLa Petite Landaise\u201d : Rodin en fait l\u2019\u00e9loge lors de sa pr\u00e9sentation au Salon de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nationale des Beaux-Arts la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e. L\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, c\u2019est Guillaume Apollinaire qui s\u2019exprime au sujet du \u00ab grand talent \u00bb de Wl\u00e9rick.<br \/>\nLa sculpture que nous vous pr\u00e9sentons, \u201cLa Baigneuse assise\u201d, a fortement particip\u00e9 en 1921\u00a0\u00e0 forger sa r\u00e9putation.
